Taylor Swift (T-Swizzle) and T-Pain Rap a "Thug Story" at CMT Awards

I’ve loved Taylor Swift since “Tim McGraw” and after following her on Twitter, I have to say that I love her even more.

While my country music allegiances will always go with Carrie Underwood for overall fandom, Taylor Swift’s second album actually outsold Carrie Underwood’s and her straightforward songwriting and fun personality make her someone that’s hard not to love.

After giving a little preview on Twitter, Taylor Swift (T-Swizzle) teamed up with hip hop’s biggest singer of hooks, T-Pain, to deliver a “Thug Story” at the CMT Awards. It was nothing short of awesome.

Eminem Gets Face Full of Bruno at MTV Movie Awards

So everyone in the Twitterverse is talking about Sacha Baron Cohen’s tea-bagging/69ing/facesitting on Eminem at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, trying to figure out if it was real, if Eminem knew about it, or how much of it was staged.

In the clips that will inevitably get taken down from YouTube over and over, you can clearly hear Eminem saying, “Are you serious right now? Are you f*cking serious right now? Get this motherf*cker off me.”

Personally, I found this to be incredibly disrespectful, whether that be on the part of the show’s producers or Sacha Baron Cohen, towards Eminem, who has made very few public appearances since the death of his best friend Proof and his stint in rehab. I understand the argument that Eminem is a prankster and that he deserves to be pranked every now and again by entertainment’s latest prankster, but I feel like this wasn’t the right time to do something like this with Eminem. I know that Eminem doesn’t pull any punches in his lyrics, but if he wasn’t in on this very public, very viral prank, it feels like it might have gone a little too far to put a bare ass in his face on national television.

True, it’s not much different than Eminem mocking a singer or celebrity on an album, but something about this just didn’t feel right. I can’t really explain why, but Eminem isn’t Asher Roth these days and I’d hope that as one of the few remaining artists that can truly move the needle on album sales, he’d get a little bit more respect. That being said, perhaps this was a case of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and a proverbial passing of the torch to the next generation of prankster if Slim Shady is bowing out from that title.

This video will inevitably be taken down, but check it out while it lasts:

Alyssa Milano Loves Pizza and I Love Her Twitter Tweets

Alyssa Milano Twitter

I’d have to say this is one of my favorite celebrity tweets this week. It’s pretty awesome that hottie Alyssa Milano’s Twitter page reads “?, ?, and BASEBALL. This is my official page. I tweet a lot. Consider yourself forewarned.” What is EVEN cooler is that she actually replies (or @’s) or RT (retweets) things, showing that she’s active and talks to people on the site.

Nothing annoys me more on the Internetz right now than people on Twitter who don’t follow anyone, never @ or RT anything, and only push out Tweets via RSS. If you’re not going to talk to anyone, listen, or read, then why are you there? I can understand the celebrities can’t follow everyone, but it’s regular people who use Twitter solely to broadcast themselves, rather than participate, that drive me absolutely crazy.

Thankfully, Alyssa Milano is not one of those people. She’s one of my favorite celebrity Twitter users!

On a randon side note, this was probably my most profound thought and most popular Tweet this week, which I used to have a lot more of back in the days of the old Facebook that didn’t factor “real-time” (the “new black” of the Internet) in so much. ??????? ??? ??? ?????????

"A Fine Mess" by Kate Voegele is a Pleasant Surprise

(via Kate Voegele’s MySpace Music Page)

So I don’t watch One Tree Hill, but I hear that Kate Voegele is on it. On the show, she apparently plays a singer named Mia, who sings Kate Voegele’s songs on the show (not as covers, but as original songs by the character Mia). Honestly, I was just on a CD buying spree when I got Eminem, Redman and Method Man, and Green Day’s latest offerings, then I saw an ad to get Kate Voegele’s album for $1.99 on Amazon via MySpace Music.

??? ?????????

I actually clicked the ad and bought it (CPC or CPA crews, you’re welcome). A week or so later, Voegele’s album has been the one that I’ve listened to the most and I didn’t even know who she was. Honestly, I just bought the album because I thought she was pretty and about 37,000 other people did the same, landing her the #10 spot on the Billboard charts for her album “A Fine Mess.”

I will definitely say that this album is not for everyone, especially dudes that aren’t into singers like Sara Bareilles, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, or any singer/songwriter types. But if you’re into that kind of thing (like me), I think you’ll find Kate Voegele’s music to be a pleasant companion for any long drives. She’s not the most powerful singer in the world, but there’s something about her melodies and girlish voice that does it for me. I used to be a huge Michelle Branch fan, so Voegele’s album is a bit of a less produced, not necessarily “gritty,” but less radio friendly version of that.

So if you’re into that, check her out! (embedded song is from her first album because I had never heard it and wanted to hear it)

Kindly Unspoken – Kate Voegele

Katy Perry Wore a Watermelon and I Liked It

While I love to follow Sockington and of course, my super crush Lacey Schwimmer on Twitter, one of my favorite celebrities to follow has got to be the wacky, but incredibly entertaining Katy Perry. ?a????? ????? ????????

??????? ???? ???????

And while I am proud of the fact that I actually bought her album at “I Kissed a Girl” and realized that she was actually pretty good

, I have to say that it is her wackiness and overall charm that makes her one of my favorite celebrities today. And I’m very happy that I predicted her 4th single “Waking Up in Vegas,” which has now made her four best songs become her four first singles.

Too often, we have celebrities complaining about this or making a scene about that (looking at you, Katherine Heigl… Miss “I Don’t Want an Emmy, Ok, Now I Do”). So when we have a celebrity that doesn’t take herself too seriously and does something like this – taking a picture with a watermelon head and puts it on Twitter via her Kitty Purry Tumblr blog – it’s hard not to find it incredibly refreshing and love it.

You know when you see really hot girls that are ok with acting like they’re not hot? That’s who Katy Perry has made herself to be and that’s reason enough to lurve her. And underneath that watermelon face is one of the hottest musicians in the game today!

Carrie Underwood Looked Perfect As Usual at Season 8 American Idol Finale

Carrie Underwood, American Idol’s crown jewel and 2009 ACM Entertainer of the Year, was of course, at this year’s American Idol finale (Congrats to Kris Allen!!) and as usual, she looked pretty perfect.

The last time we saw Carrie, she was at a loss for words accepting her Entertainer of the Year Award, also looking perfect, but I’m a fan of the pink dress she wore to this year’s AI finale.

Kristin Cavallari Returns to MTV on The Hills, Still Absurdly Hot

.!.

Kristin Cavallari Returns to MTV

Kristin Cavallari Returns to MTV

I finally got around to catching up on The Hills‘ before Lauren Conrad’s final episode this coming Sunday and we all got a glimpse of Kristin Cavallari, The Hills’ new old but new but kind of old, but still new for The Hills’ star who will be allegedly joining the cast next season

For those of us who didn’t watch Laguna Beach (and why did you not?), Kristin Cavallari was the star of Laguna Beach (The Hills’ birth mother on MTV), the show that made Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth household names, which ultimately led to them getting on The Hills.

Ok, so I realize many of us didn’t watch Laguna Beach, especially the guys, but every guy should really rejoice because Kristin Cavallari has to be one of the most physically near-flawless hotties in the history of MTV reality shows (and you know there have been a lot). While I will miss Lauren and my undying love for her will never go away, getting Kristin Cavallari back on TV is nothing to complain about.

Kris Allen Wins American Idol Season 8 – No Boundaries Performance Video

Another season of American Idol has come and gone and Kris Allen somehow defeated the collective powerhouse that was early favorites Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert to become Season 8’s winner.

In the history of American Idol, apart from Taylor Hicks, Kris’ victory could be the biggest underdog story in the history of American Idol. I don’t think anyone saw Kris coming out of the Top 36 compared to some of the early frontrunners like Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta , and even Anoop Desai. Somehow, someway, Kris did it. Somehow, Kris defeated this:

Personally, I’m thrilled about it.

How did Adam Lambert, clearly the most original contestant the show has had since Blake Lewis lose? The same way that Blake lost, by being incredibly talented, but just too polarizing with his style. While many would get and would love Adam’s glam rock style, Kris’ arrangements were clearly more mainstream and his likable personality made him someone that anyone would feel good about him winning. As Idol tradition has had it, both Adam and Kris will get record deals and I hope their talents bring them the same or more success than other past successful idols like Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Katharine McPhee, Elliott Yamin, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Kellie Pickler, David Cook, and others.

Congrats to Kris Allen!

Rapper Dolla Murdered in Beverly Center, Twitter Users Pay Respects to @DollaGang

Yesterday, an Atlanta rapper by the name of Dolla was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Beverly Center (a big mall here in Los Angeles, featured in Usher’s “Confessions” song) here in Los Angeles. Someone has since been arrested in conjunction with the shooting and of course, this is yet another sad story coming from hip-hop.

Something interesting about this story is that Dolla had just joined Twitter, and had just tweeted out his first message a couple hours before being shot and killed. Since then, his account has attracted over a thousand followers and numerous users have tweeted messaged of “R.I.P. Dolla” and directed them towards his account, much like Facebook walls have become online memorials to many that people have lost.

American Idol's Kris Allen Covers Kanye West's "Heartless" Better than The Fray

Last night, Kris Allen covered Kanye West’s “Heartless” on American Idol. After his most creative performance of the year, judge Randy Jackson said he liked Kris’ version “better than The Fray’s version” and better than the original.

Unbeknownst to many, The Fray had covered the Kanye West song in February 2009 with a much slower, more brooding style than Kris Allen’s. However, The Fray put a mainstream rock edge to the Kanye song, so the comparison was inevitable. Just like David Cook covered the Chris Cornell version of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” Kris Allen did something similar with the Kanye West song, while putting his own unique spin on it.

In just a few hours, we find out of the Cinderella story that has been Kris Allen’s run to the Top 3 will continue. And I, for one, hope it does.
