American Idol David Cook's CD Met With Mixed Reviews

home of phobia aka freshman orientation download American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook’s first post-Idol album (his second studio album) came out this Tuesday, one week after runner-up David Archuleta’s album looks like it will end up at #2 on the charts behind a monster weekend from Taylor Swift. So far, reaction to the album has been mixed and I think it’s well deserved. While no one seems to be knocking the talent of the first-ever rocker to win Idol, many critics seem to say that the album is pretty generic, something that I’d agree with.

You get some guitar, sometimes some piano, some vulnerable David Cook voice, and some yelling voice David Cook. The songs seem to blend in with one another a bit, but a few of the songs I really like – including “Light On,” “Permanent,” and “A Daily Anthem.” Feel free to preview the first single on this snazzy widget below and choose for yourself if you want to support this year’s Idol with your wallet!

Even Daughtry got mixed reviews and look where he’s at now!

David Cook the album is #1 at Itunes, #1 at Amazon and has at least 11 singles from the album on the Top 100!!! I spent yesterday afternoon blasting my new David Cook CD in my car and my life was good! I’d say by his sales that a whole lot of other people feel like I do! Way to go Cook, you deserve it!!!

I agree with you to some extent and I know you are not knocking David. I ADORE this man, his voice, his sass and smarts and yes, his undeniable yumminess and I think he has managed to put out a pretty decent album considering the time constraints he had and decision-making by Idol bigwigs…It’s really a shame that a great talent like David Cook got so rushed through the process because, based on Analog Heart, I know this man has GREAT songwriting abilities and I think the album could have been a bit more interesting if he’d just had the time to write everything by himself.

Can’t stop listening to Permanent, A Daily AntheM, Lie and Kiss on the Neck. My faves!

David Cook can obviously sing, but will he gain lasting respect? I’m not so convinced.

I hyped David Cook on Everhype and scored it 54% which I think is fairly accurate.
