Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Civil War over Kim’s Bentley

April 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Kim KardashianThis week on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim made her much publicized purchase of a brand new Bentley, which ended up getting hit by a motorcycle shortly after she took delivery of the car in real life (but this wasn’t shown on the show).

Getting a Bentley had been a dream of Kim’s since she was 12 years old (did you know what a Bentley was when you were 12?), but the moment was ruined when sisters Khloe and Kourtney got fed up with The Tush’s attitude at the dealership.

Since the car wasn’t ready when promised, Khloe took exception to the dealer’s treatment of them, only to have Kim get upset with her for “humiliating her” during a business deal (where I’m sure Kim plugs the dealership as she’s currently doing on her personal blog and gives them some publicity in exchange for a discount). What ensued was what E! called the “Kardashian Civil War,” where Kim faced the wrath of both of her sisters being fed up with her “all business” attitude and forgetting about what really matters to them - family.

I’ll admit that it was a little disappointing to hear the superficial side of Kim come out and go on and on about her Bentley. However, I figure that it’s likely very similar to how excited I was to get my 40″ HDTV, though my purchase was much cheaper. Sometimes, you’re just really excited to get something and it makes you a little bit obnoxious because you forget that not everyone wants to come along for the ride. In this case, Khloe and Kourtney did not want to come along for the ride - figuratively or in the Bentley.

The battle led to Khloe trying to slam a door in Kim’s face, which caused Kim to attack her sister with her purse, then her fists, as she punched her sister out of frustration before leaving in tears (which would have gotten her kicked out of The Real World house).

On Kim’s side, her sister had ruined a moment that she had apparently waited over half her life for (getting a Bentley). For Khloe, she was frustrated that her older sister was becoming so superficial that she would take sides with a car dealer over her own family in an argument because there was money involved.

Kardashian SistersWhile logic might say that Khloe was right, I could actually empathize with Kim a little bit because this felt like having someone ruin your birthday party by being a Debbie Downer and talking about their bad day at your party.

If it’s your birthday, it doesn’t necessarily entitle you to anything by rule, but it does make you think that you’d like people to let you have a free pass for that day to mess up and do whatever you please. For Kim, this was like a birthday and she was upset that it was getting ruined. Yes, it was a little bratty, but I could see where she was coming from. It’s a stretch, but I could see it.

Kim decided that the sisters might be spending too much time together and that it was time for her to break free even more from her older and younger sister. She wanted to move towards more of a business relationship as all parts of their lives constantly intersect, making her believe that she has had enough of her sisters at this point.

The family took off for Colorado for an impromptu vacation where the shananigans will resume as the sisters are forced to stay together and hopefully work out their differences. Because when apart and arguing, the Kardashians are still entertaining, but together and united they make for great TV. There were no hugs in this week’s episode, which means we’re due for some next week, along with Kris Kardashian throwing Kim’s Sidekick, which will inevitably lead to drama.

And yes, Kim did get her Bentley back.

It just goes to show you… you can have a lot of money and still be white trash on the inside.
