Crystle Stewart Named Miss USA 2008
seeker the dark is rising the dvd Americans can rejoice now that Donald Trump and friends have crowned Texas’ Crystle Stewart Miss USA 2008.
If we’re being honest, Miss USA 2008 is probably not nearly as hot as Rachel Smith – Miss USA 2007.
Unfortunately, the former Miss Tennessee will be best remembered for slipping and falling at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, instead of being one of the hottest Miss USA’s in the history of the country before relinquishing her crown to Stewart this weekend.
I don’t really know too much about pageants, but I would like to see Miss America and Miss USA have a little bit more positive and regular exposure than they have in the current format. I would think that by living in Los Angeles and being fairly in the mix in the entertainment goings-on of this city, I might have seen a single Miss USA by now. But nearly six years later, I have yet to have a pageant winner sighting in this little town.
I know that they’re busy supporting different philanthropies and doing a lot of good all around the United States, which is wonderful and Crystle Stewart now becomes a spokesperson for breast and ovarian cancer, but it seems weird and unfortunate that I never really see or hear about anything that they do outside of scandals and missteps. Regardless, it’s wonderful that these women are able to get involved with charitable events and do a lot of good that comes with the crown. There’s no way that it can be an easy job, so I commend them for that.
Still boggles the mind.
I know that they have much better things to do than sign autographs and take pictures, but it seems like it would make these competitions all the more interesting if the winners were made to be as big as their titles make them out to be after they win the crown. Still, the charity is more important, but I’m just trying to speak as someone who would like to be a fan, but doesn’t have enough reason to be one.
Does anyone know who Miss America is right now? I’m about to Google to find out.
I think there’s a large pageant fan base out there who knows all about these events, but for an “every man” like myself, I think it’s disappointing that I often don’t even know the names of these women that are representing our whole country in their pageant glory.
Maybe Miss Stewart can make an appearance on The Apprentice? It’d be great to see her working under pressure so that she would become more of a real person to us and we could see her qualities in a semi-scripted reality competition.
Stewart, who runs a party-planning and motivational speaking company and is probably buttloads of fun and a great person to have over for parties, is one Miss USA removed from the very hot Tara Conner, who gave the Miss USA the most exposure that it’s had in years.
With her under-aged drinking, tearful apology, and admittance to being a little bit of a fan of drinking and occasional dabbling of the nose candy, Tara Conner put the Miss USA pageant in the front of the American celebrity-obsessed mind.
She was not only hot, but she was Miss USA!
Not only was she Miss USA, but she was a Miss USA who loved to party!
Many criticized Conner, but it made the pageant scene feel a lot more real to a casual viewer like me.
Rachel Smith may have fallen down at the Miss Universe pageant, only to get booed off the stage in Mexico, but she, like Conner, was also beyond hot.
Though I’m mildly disappointed that Rachel Smith didn’t win the Miss Universe crown, which she probably could have won considering she got fourth runner-up after falling down during the evening gown portion of the competition, at least she was really, really hot and seemed to be a genuinely nice person. or she played a nice person really well on TV.
Smith will be heading to Hollywood and I’m looking forward to seeing whatever movie, television show, singing career, video vixen, or pretty much anything that involves her in the new future.
The Most Beautiful Fall in Pageant History?
Considering the competition was based on swimsuit, evening gown, and interview, I’m guessing that Miss Stewart killed it in the interview considering she doesn’t have the drop dead gorgeous looks of Smith (pictured here), and didn’t pull a Miss Teen South Carolina, who inadvertently made one of the most viral videos in the history of anything with her answer to a question on U.S. education.
However, considering the judging panel included Rob Schneider, I’m a little skeptical about just how fair and well-rounded the judging is for the competition (though I’m sure the celebrity judges have little say in who actually wins the competition, which is fine).
Best of luck to Crystle Stewart as she begins her reign as the female leader of the good ole’ USA. I hope that she’ll have some good exposure that makes her a little bit more visible in a positive way that hasn’t necessarily been associated with the pageant in recent years.
While the night belonged to Stewart, two other contestants were recognized by fan-voting and peer voting at the competition.

Miss Alaska/Photogenic USA – Courtney Erin Carroll

Miss Ohio/Congeniality – Monica Day
(who used to do the news in Ohio, which I think is really cool)
