"What Are You Gonna Do? Spoon Me to Death?" Movie Quotation Baffles Los Angeles

Los Angeles Radio Station KROQ has asked listeners to identify the movie where the quotation “What are you gonna to do? Spoon me to death?” comes from, which has stumped the City of Angels stumped for three days.

The thing that drives me crazy is that I have 100% heard this quotation before in a movie, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me.

Anyone have a guess?

You know, everyone is claiming it doesn’t exactly exist but variations on it do… but I’m pretty convinced I’ve heard it in that exact form before, I just can’t put my finger on in what. It was a scene/situation in which a character reached for silverware as a jokey weapon and just happened to pick up a spoon and the other character said that line in response. I feel like it was an adlib or an improv, like in “Knocked Up” or something ridiculous. It’s gonna bug me now…

It’s not “Mystery Men,” but there is a very similar quote in that movie. By the way, I’m now thinking it’s not a movie after all but a TV show. It sounds like something they’d say on “Two & a Half Men” or something.
