A Busy Week For Me at AmericanIdol.com: Top 12, Photo Recaps, Performance Videos, and More!
Today is a glorious day in AmericanIdol.com history.
Why?
Because today, the Top 12 contestant heads have launched at the top of the home page. I am absolutely obsessed with these heads above the top level navigation and I think it’s a really cool part of the site redesign! If you are a fan and haven’t been to the site lately, you should definitely go and enjoy the smiling faces of the Top 12 looking at you while you navigate around the site.
In the spirit of shameless self-promotion, I got to take on a lot of the copy writer duties on American Idol this week as my friend Marnie was away for a few days.
Normally, I don’t get to do too much of the writing on the site. While it was like doing one and a half full time jobs all week (because there’s no way I was doing everything that she does), as I was doing this in addition to my glamorous Ugly Betty duties, it was definitely worth it because I got to go to the Top 12 party last night, but got to learn a little bit more about how we put together a lot of the features!
I was disgustingly sick all week, but I kept telling myself, “It’s only a couple days…” And it was! I’m going to do one more news item on the lovely Carrie Marie Underwood’s birthday this weekend, then I’ll sleep for a bit.
So what did I get to do in the past couple days that you should definitely check out? (Can you tell it’s me? I try to sound a little more grown up, yet “hip.”)

- Top 8 Girls and Top 8 Guys Photo Recaps! (There are 3 extra pictures in the Top 8 guys for some reason, hopefully that will fix soon) If you only click on one, click on the Top 8 Girls one because I think that the picture I chose for Kady Malloy and the caption I wrote are adorable!

And there’s a few other things scattered here and there, but they’re definitely worth checking out on the very cool, smiling head-filled, wonderland that is AmericanIdol.com! There’s a bunch of really cool stuff on the way, so if you’re a real Idol fan, you should definitely keep checking back in! And I’m not just saying this because I get to help out on the website every now and again, though I’m sure that helps.

I blogged about this before, but performance videos are now on the official site as well, which is AWESOME-O. So no, you can’t embed them, but you are watching them legally AND there are no commercials! The quality is great, along with the sound quality, and it never lags!
So if you were ever thinking “Ugh, I missed that performance because I was taking a dump…” Head over to the AmericanIdol.com Videos section and go to the iTunes performance videos and you’ll be able to see all of them just a few hours after the show!
Ok, enough self-promotion and Americanidol.com promotion, but it was a long week and I’m really proud of the stuff that’s up there, so I wanted to share.
