iTunes & Americanidol.com Team Up for Season 7 Music, Performances, and Streaming Videos
Variety is reporting that iTunes and americanidol.com have locked down a partnership for the hipster content and computer mini-giant to sponsor streaming performances on americanidol.com and sell audio and video of this season’s Top 24 on iTunes. As I understand it, looks like the video sales will start with the Top 12, but the audio will be available starting this week.
What do I have to say about this? HOLLA!! (I love that people still say that word)
What can we expect? I’m positive we’ll see some iTunes shout outs this week on American Idol, but I’m also REALLY looking forward to the online streaming of performances on the official Idol site! Really, this is a piece of content that the site has always been missing, losing people to YouTube and YouTube imitators, but now that performances have arrived, the Idol site has a huge, huge piece of missing content courtesy of this new relationship with iTunes. So hooray for this!
Now, will this season’s contestants have something worthy of buying? Will there be a Bo Bice “In a Dream” moment, Blake Lewis “You Give Love a Bad Name,” or a Carrie Underwood “Alone”-like moment that you absolutely have to buy?
I think so. And I hope so. I am so psyched about this and cannot wait to see it in action!
