What better way to kick off a 3 day weekend than a little Brad Paisley accompanying a montage of pictures of American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood?

Have a great 3 day weekend, everyone!

Miss South Carolina Caitlin Upton goes on the Today Show to discuss her “maps” answer.

She’s really pretty when she’s not all done up.

She got 4th place, even with that answer. Her redo answer? ‘Twas ok. I guess it’s better than talking about South Africa and Iraq.

Good job by her to step up and face the media instead of getting trampled or just writing an explanation on a blog. I love non-passive aggressive people.

For her going on the show, she gets the official hooray picture from DaveChung.com!

Yay Caitlin Upton!!

Normally, I would love Teen Beauty Pageants. I seem to have a soft spot for high maintenance, very bougie girls at times and I’m really not afraid to admit that (albeit it’s a shallow soft spot).

But Miss Teen South Carolina just gives the most ridiculous answer to a question I have ever heard in my whole life and of course, YouTube is all over it.

All I’m wondering is, what the hell does South Africa have to do with the question? Let alone Asia…

Everyone knows that Asians know how to use maps. We’re just not that good at driving to get where we want to go on the maps ;)

Hairspray Day

So I finally saw Hairspray, which I wanted to see because of So You Think You Can Dance.

I have come to a few conclusions:
- Amanda Bynes is a dreamy girl.
- Zac Efron is a pretty good looking dude, not gonna lie. He deserves all the attention that the ladies give him before they say “OMG, Chris Hansen is going to come get me.”
- Sometimes, there is too much singing in musicals. I wish that sometimes, they could just say things to each other. I was all about three or so songs in the movie, but a lot of them were overkill.

Amanda Bynes, you had me at “She’s the Man.”

Please read and comment on my Joss Stone write up for Billboard.com!

Even if you don’t like reading, there’s tons of hot pictures of Joss Stone and who doesn’t love that?

Joss Stone at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, August 27, 2007.

The first time I saw Joss Stone, I thought she looked and sounded like the naughty (I think that is the first time I’ve ever said that word) version of Kelly Clarkson. Since making that first impression on me years ago, I came to realize that despite her age and absolutely stunning physical appearance (Joss, “you’re hot, dude…” Words of wisdom courtesy of Jen from The Real World: Denver), Joss Stone is much more of an R&B/Soul artist than a pop music princess, to the point that I’d almost call her the anti-teeny bopper. While many males relish in bashing my music taste that is most easily defined as “music your little sister would like,” not a single person had anything negative to say about me attending the 20 year old’s show on Monday night. On a night where I finally discovered how to use the brightness settings on my enV correctly and took by far the hottest pictures (HOT!!) I have taken all summer, I became another of the many who kept professing to me, “Joss Stone is legit…and she’s really hot.”

In pictures, Joss Stone might not be as beautiful as let’s say… a Carrie Underwood (but who is?).
But on stage, that girl is the definition of hot.

Profound thoughts, I know.

The sleeping with earplugs experiment is over, as I woke up at 3 AM today with both my earplugs in my hands, which I somehow accomplished and held onto while still being asleep. Something about that tells me that if I can do that while I’m sleeping, I really don’t like them.

Saw Joss Stone. Saw The Hills. A successful night. Some people have said that on Billboard, I’m a pretty good writer, but a really crappy photographer (albeit with a camera phone). Tonight, I set out to prove them wrong and I think I succeeded!
Check out these pics I took tonight with my Billboard camera phone! I think I’ve finally mastered how to tweak it to make them come out good even when it’s dark.

No longer am I a crappy camera phone photographer.

OMG, you better watch The Hills tonight.

But Lauren, my dreamy mcdreamerton, I’m going to the Joss Stone concert tonight for work! I’m going to get back so late!

So I know this guy, his name is Dave Chung and he claims that The Hills is his favorite TV show, but he freakin’ misses my show for a stupid concert. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!

Ok ok, LC… I didn’t know it meant that much to you. I’ll watch it tonight and lose tons of sleep, ok? I’m sorry!

THANK you!

Today, Diddy finally “made the band.”

You have to have this as the soundtrack for this post

The winners of Making the Band 4 were:
1) Robert
2) Brian A
3) Quanell
4) Willie
5) Mike

In an unexpected twist, Donnie got a solo deal on Bad Boy. White guy on Bad Boy? Let’s just hope that Donnie finds more success than Kane.

Forgot who Kane was? That’s what I thought. He’s the guy on the bridge.

Man, Melissa is hot.

Best of luck to the new “band!”

Apparently, Diddy is putting together a tour with the new band and Danity Kane – wherever, whenever, I’ll be there now that all my favorites “made the band.”

Please check out my Josh Groban concert blog for Billboard.com!

Josh Groban at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. August 25, 2007

After being told that I was set to cover the Josh Groban Awake tour on Saturday night, I couldn’t wait. I told one of our bosses that I wouldn’t miss the show for the world. I drove down to “The OC” (omg, hi Ryan and Marissa! Love your Dior sunglasses! And Ryan, your Hanes tank top is nice as well…), only to discover that neither ticket, nor press pass were awaiting me at the venue. While I did finagle my way into the press parking lot free of charge (I am getting way too good at bending the truth), somewhere along the joys of an email chain, I got lost in the shuffle. I was no longer “Dave Chung – Billboard blogger,” I was just some guy who liked driving to arenas on a Saturday night. Regardless of disappointment and illness (so many boogies…), I knew I had to live up to my word and get in.
